Fragments

Fragments – A Response : A series of 21 collagraph mono-prints. Responding to the ‘Ripon Fragments’ of medieval manuscript ‘stowaways’ held in the Leeds University Library special collection. Commissioned as part of the Sadler Seminar Series: Interdisciplinary Interventions in the Brotherton Special Collections.

Collagraph plates were made from a range of household papers and packaging, including deconstructed food, toiletry and medication boxes, tetra pack juice cartons, envelopes, seed packaging and snail eaten paper. Scoring, scratching, creasing, perforations, tearing and print placement reference physical features, textures and shapes of the original fragments as well as suggesting blocks and layers of text.

The print objects are not numbered or ordered and are intended for viewing or display in any configuration that pleases the curator.
